Dr. Killgore on Wounded Warrior Board

Garry-Killgore---LinfieldI was recently deeply honored and consider a great privilege to serve on the Advisory Committee for the Aquatic Programs for Wounded Warriors through the International Swimming Hall of Fame. The committee is chaired by Mary Wykle, PhD and the other members include Bruce Becker, MD, Marty Biondi, PT, CSCS, Laurie Denomme, B. Kinesiology, Paula Godes, DPT, Melinda Grant, M.S., Tadlington Stout, Steven Yach, MSGT, U.S. Army. Each member has an aquatic specialty, with mine being deep water running and cross training, that will be utilized in an effort to assist our wounded military warriors. The Mission Statement follows:

"The mission of the Aquatic Programs for Wounded Warriors is to offer aquatic activities to support healing, fitness, and adaptive sports opportunities for those unable to participate in land activities. All aquatic activities will be approved for quality by professional aquatic personnel to ensure integrity, applicability, and trust.

The Advisory Committee for Aquatic Programs for Wounded Warriors will strive to:

1. Promote all areas of aquatic programs including shallow and deep water training, adaptive water sports, cross training and swimming

2. Advise on safety issues presented by recovering Warriors

3. Provide guidance on appropriate modifications and guidelines for Warriors with regard to age and physical/mental/emotional limitations

4. Advocate implementation of aquatic programs to improve all areas of fitness

5. Support research of aquatic activities, specifically in warm water, on TBI and PTSD

6. Represent the ISHOF on program specifics, general questions and access to the specialized areas of the advisory committee via
